The Feeding of the 5,000 (or our own version of it, anyways)

My favorite Origami experience was when my daughter, Janelle, had her 5th birthday. We celebrated it by having a party at her school with her classmates. Her favorite story then was of Jesus feeding 5,000 people with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes that a little boy had brought.
So after the class their teacher called me and I read to them the story. Then I taught them how to make origami fish. It was a bit tricky with all the little fingers but with help they were able to make their own fish. The kids were so proud of their work! It was their first time to make origami.
I had also made cupcakes and brought frosting and candies and sprinkles. The kids then decorated their own cupcakes. It was a gooey mess but everyone had a blast and all the kids were proudly showing their "loaf of bread and fish" to their parents after school.
Janelle is now 12 years old but she still remembers her own version of the Feeding of the 5,000 (and with all those kids it sure seemed like it!):)
